    Benjamin Laur is a young composer and baritone currently pursuing his undergraduate degree with major areas of study in both vocal performance and music composition.

His compositional style has been highly praised by peers and instructors as "beautiful," "thoughtful," "soaring," and with a "beautiful handling of harmony." His catalogue of compositions ranges from songs for solo voice and piano to chamber orchestrations to choral octets. He is currently interested in and available for commissions.
 
      As a lyric baritone Laur won the Colness Vocal Competition Award at Central Michigan University (2009). He has sung the roles of Koko in Gilbert & Sullivan's The Mikado (CMU Opera Company, 2008), Fred/Petrucchio in Cole Porter's Kiss Me, Kate (CMU Music Theatre, 2008),  Papageno in Mozart's Die Zauberflote (CMU Opera Company, 2009), and Don Giovanni in Mozart's opera of the same name (CMU Opera Company, 2010).  Benjamin has performed the Faure Requiem with the CMU Orchestra and Festival Chorus, and has given recitals focused on the songs of Henri Duparc and Vaughan Williams.
